hpI’ve never been much of an impulse shopper. In fact, I’m so careful about budgeting and keeping close track of my finances that I rarely if ever purchase anything more than groceries or household supplies without plenty of due diligence and consumer research. That’s the sort of forethought I put into my most recent consumer electronics purchase – a replacement for my dying Dell laptop.

I visited several electronics stores and compared prices on dozens of PCs. It seemed as though the stores had gotten together and come to an agreement on their sales prices as no single deal really stood out. Then I used my old laptop’s last few dying breaths to scan the online market. In a matter of moments I found an HP Pavilion laptop that had all the features I desired as well as an eye-pleasing external design.

hp pavilionWhen it comes to choosing a gaming laptop, it’s important to be aware of the central component that affects games: the video card. Most laptops don’t contain video cards that are as powerful as their PC counterparts, and for this reason, a laptop gaming machine is often less powerful than a similar PC. In addition, there’s no feasible method to upgrade the video card from the laptop, as it’s a much more difficult process and only possible for a trained computer technician. When looking at a video card, it’s often best to purchase a little lower than the top end for the best value. Laptops that contain the newest video cards can cost hundreds of dollars more than a laptop that has a video card just a little less powerful

With a gaming laptop, it’s also a good idea to have a fast processor, as this does affect game performance. The HP Pavilion series of laptops tend to have good specifications and are reliable enough to last.
